City Humiliated By Derby

Hull City were humiliated 4-0 by Derby County tonight in front of the KCOM Stadium’s lowest ever attendance of 4,666. Two goals in each half were enough to sink The Tigers in a game that played out like a preseason friendly.

Martyn Waghorn had the first real chance of the game when he opened the scoring 25 minutes in. He controlled a through ball from Bradley Johnson before chipping the ball over the onrushing George Long.

15 minutes later Waghorn turned provider as he set Florian Jozefoon through. He made himself some space before firing a low shot past George Long from 20 yards out.

Just before halftime City had two chances of their own, although both were from distance. First through Nouha Dicko’s shot from 25 yards out which was parried behind by goalkeeper Kelle Roos. Todd Kane then had a chance of his own from the edge of the area but his shot was saved again by Roos.

Nothing of real note happened until the 75th minute when Derby’s new signing Duane Holmes whipped a cross in from the left to the backpost but unfortunately for Brandon Fleming, he was the one in the way of the ball and deflected it into his own net to make it 3-0.

Just a few minutes from time Mason Mount added another. He took the ball round George Long with a drop of the shoulder before passing it into an empty net.

That was all she wrote for The Tigers with a humiliating defeat against Frank Lampard’s Derby. It really was men against boys tonight and if that performance is anything to go off, City look to be in a real relegation battle come the end of the season.
