The Other Great Escape
22 years ago, not at Stalag Luft III and 5 years after Warren Joyce’s Great Escape, Swansea created their own.
Needing to win to stay in the football league, the Swans fought back from 2v1 down to win 4v2 at a packed Vetch Field on the final day of the season.
The Present
Good Friday, 2025 and the Swans swim serenley in mid table. Whilst we need at least 6 points from 4 games to ensure safety.
Form Guide
Luke Williams was sacked in February after 1 win in 10. Alan Sheehan took over and they have since taken 17 points from their last 10 games.
Hull City returned 15 points from 10, so little to choose between the two.
At home Swansea have won 4 from their last 6, conceding just 3 goals.
3 consecutive wins, without conceding a goal, means they can still mathematically, make the play offs.
The Tigers recent form is erratic. 1 win in 3.
Arguably the best performance was the draw against an impressive Coventry City side.
Head to Head
We have only won once in 9 games against the Swans. That was in December, which gives us the opportunity to do the double over them.
Hull born Josh Tymon is a regular at left back for them, whilst Cyrus Christie has made few appearances.
The Tigers
Pandur was superb on Monday and he’ll need to be again, given our lack of goals.
I’d like to see Puerta alongside Alzate in midfield as he drives us forward more directly.
Amrabat made a real impact against the Sky Blues, twice switching play with long cross field balls, setting up Kamara for our equaliser.
Joao Pedro needs better service.
Egan was solid in defence before going off with “vision” problems.
