Sunderland AFC v Hull City AFC
As we fast approach the "business end of the season" we desperately need points.
We have been competitive in most games this season but our points total 30 and goals scored 32, are woeful.
If we have to win ugly, so be it, every point is crucial.
To hit the 50 point mark we need 20 from 14 games.
The Mackems
In contrast Sunderlands totals are 62 points and 50 goals and they've won 4 and drawn 2, scoring 11 and conceding 6 at the ironically named Stadium of Light, which is anything but light inside. Roker Park was iconic and a great away day, next to the sea.
Sunderlands average attendance is circa 40,000, so expect another big crowd, despite the early kick off. I expect them to make the play off final.
Sunderland
Sunderland was known as the shipbuilding capital of the World.
They have also won more trophies than their fierce rivals over the River Tyne.
If you drive in via Hendon, look out for the Raich Carter mural on the side of the Blue Horse Pub, which is where their original ground was.
In Reuben Selles we trust.
City have won 3 and lost 3 of their last 6 away games.
If we can recreate the performance at Bramall Lane then we will win.
A repeat of Burnley away and fans will be leaving at half time for a walk on Roker beach.
Marginal Gains
Sunderland had to play on Monday night and a 95th minute defeat won't have done much for morale or recovery. So we have an advantage, having had 53 hours extra recovery time.
Our Head Coach has options after an impressive January transfer window.
So Sunderland will be left guessing as to our starting XI.
Tigers XI
Our defence will have to be on top form against their pacey attack.
I like Sean McLoughlin but I'd rather have the pace of Matty Jacobs at left back.
To win tomorrow we will likely have to score at least two, so goals are in order.
We need the strength and guile of Joao Pedro.
Matazo has an eye for goal and strength, so I'd put him in the side too.
I would start with:
Pandur
Coyle (C)
Jones
McLoughlin
Jacobs
Alzate
Crooks
Matazo
Gelhardt
Pedro
Barry
Prediction: Black Cats 1v2 Tigers Pedro
