QPR vs Hull City Tuesday 1st October 7.45pm Match Preview by Daniel Giles

Walter-Ball travels to the capital.......

The Tigers will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce as they travel down south to take on a struggling QPR side.

Hull and QPR are going into this game in contrasting form with Hull having a shakey opening couple of games but now seemingly have found their footing with 7 goals scored in the last two games, which is the opposite of QPR who started the season positively with a close draw and a win but have slowly started to show cracks in their play.

Looking tactically on to the game it should be an interesting match as QPR boss Martí Cifuentes likes his team to play a more compact and possession based system (similar to Rosenior last year for the Tigers) however this hasn’t been massively successful in their opening 7 games with them only having the most possession in 2 of their games. They often line up in a 4-1-4-1 formation which helps them overload midfield and keep possession. This should be a tough tactics to play against especially with Walters high press and quick moving football. However, they have massively struggled against strong attacking sides with them conceding the 3 most goals so far this season which should be good for the Tigers especially as they have started to find their footing in front of goal. If both sides play how they have been City look like they could have an advantage especially taking into account their recent form.

In terms of squad news there is some heavy blows for both sides with Belloumi having a knock in the last game and might be absent for the game on Tuesday, which would be a big miss especially after his brilliant performance against Cardiff. However, QPR are missing key holding midfielder in Johnathan Varane who got a straight red and will miss the game which will be a big miss for their style of play.

Overall, Hull are going into this with more momentum and better form. The playstyle should mostly favour the Tigers as well as the fact QPR are winless at home all point to a City advantage.

My prediction: 3-1 Hull
