PLAY-OFF OUTSIDERS MEET IN EXCITING MKM CLASH

PLAY-OFF OUTSIDERS MEET IN EXCITING MKM CLASH

Kathryn Townsley27 Jan 2023 - 20:40

Jason Harrison pens an OSCAR themed preview of Hull City v QPR Saturday 28th January 2023

My two favourite leisure activities are probably watching City and movies/TV. So, in the week that the Oscar nominations were announced, let’s see how many of the Best Picture titles can be (loosely) squeezed into a match preview…

QPR have only won once since the restart, a 1-0 win away at Preston back on the 17th of December. They’ve drawn their last 3 games in the league, also losing to League One strugglers Fleetwood in the FA Cup during that time. Not exactly the kind of form to scream about like a BANSHEE OF INISHERIN, but perhaps a great pick on the pools and a great time to play them? Hopefully. But we’re at home remember. Wednesday 5th October was the last time we won a home match in the league.

Ilias Chair has proven to be the TOP GUN for Rangers this season. Popping up with goals and assists this season, he’s attempted the most shots for QPR. With only a 9% conversion rate however, you could describe him as a bit of a MAVERICK. Ethan Laird, Leon Balogun and possibly Lyndon Dykes will be missing for QPR which could be described as a TRIANGLE OF SADNESS by their supporters. However, skipper Stefan Johansen looks likely to return.

As the transfer deadline approaches, things have been ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, although links to the likes of Toffolo, Darlow and Fofana from Chelsea have got men and WOMEN TALKING excitedly about the potential make-up of the squad. In terms of the existing bunch, it looks a bit too early for the likes of Ebiowei, who Rosenior hopes will start training next week. The same can be said for Pelkas, Traore etc who are all still a week or two shy of fitness. Ryan Longman is rated 50/50 as well as Jacob Greaves, who has an injury to his pELVIS. Tetteh will of course be suspended after his rashness against Sheffield United.

All in all – it should prove to be a close game. Rangers are only 4 points off the play-offs, and we’re only 4 points behind them. If City are serious about a promotion push this season, these types of games are the sort we have to win. If we can play to our strengths, the dismal home form could be turned around. It’s encouraging how the likes of Seri are starting to settle and show their class. The Ivorian’s work rate and cool head allow him to do EVERTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE. If the boys in front of him can grab a couple of goals, Liam Rosenior could well be saying TAR very much to Neil Critchley’s boys for the 3 points. If that does happen, they can AVATAR very much as well from me.

Score Prediction: Hull City 1 – 1 Q.P.R

P.S. Couldn’t work THE FABELMANS into the text but please leave a comment on social media if you think of a way.
