The final game before a lengthy international break sees Sergej’s Tigers starting the day in 5th place and undefeated.
An incredible start to the season, in which we could easily have won all four games, with deserved victories over Man Utd and Coventry, followed by draws with Villa and Chelsea.
Ryan Giles provided superb crosses in both draws, which should have been converted.
Newcastle also started okay with draws at Anfield and Bournemouth and a win at Spurs. However they were thrashed 4v1 on Monday night by Leeds and have injuries to key players in Dan Burn, Osulu and Elanga.
Toon fans will expect and demand a response to Monday nights heavy defeat.
This may, as it did against Coventry, favour City, if we can be clinical on the counter attack.
I expect a similar game to Chelsea but given Newcastles injury list, I would hope for a better result.
We will be missing the strength of Mendy at the back, but with a capable replacement in Herrington.
The key will be getting players forward quickly and onto the crosses from Giles and Belloumi.
Energy will be key and with City having had an extra 53 hours rest over their antagonists, this should help us.
Slaters work rate this season has been phenomenal and with Crooks’ guile, we have a great pairing in the centre.
I’m hoping for a goal to match that of Jelavic’s superb volley at St. James Park in 2014.
City are likely to play in their new blue kit with the City’s 3 Crowns. City are flying high and the Tigers faithful will be high in the stands with a great view over the City.
I feel that we need to win this game and cap off a fantastic start to the season.
I’m predicting Newcastle 1v2 Hull City, Belloumi to open the scoring.
Hull City predicted XI: Konstantinos Tzolakis; Lewie Coyle, Semi Ajayi, John Egan, Lucas Herrington, Ryan Giles; Regan Slater, Matt Crooks; Mo Belloumi, Oli McBurnie, Sorba Thomas.
