This time, our Meet the Player event took us to The Goodfellowship Inn on Cottingham Road, Hull which proved to be another really good venue. Fans of all ages turned out and were greeted by Roary & Amber for high fives and photos.
Alfie Jones, a late stand in for Matt Crooks, and Kyle Jospeh were amazing and took great pleasure in answering questions from the fans and Adey who was our compare for the night.
Questions varied from favourite grounds they’d played at, to what’s involved in training sessions and who inspired them to become professional footballers.
A little insight into the night……. It turns out Kyle is an Arsenal Supporter and Alfie is a Bristol City Supporter having grown up in Bristol. Alfie was asked about his chant that the fans sing which he said makes him proud, his dad was a DJ and it turns out the tune behind the chant was his favourite song to play!
Kyle’s ambition is to play for Scotland and he is hoping that playing for Hull in the Championship will give him the platform for this to happen.
Some questions gave us an insight into the camaraderie in the dressing room, from best dressed player (Steven Alzate), worst dressed (Matt Crooks), Joker in the team (Lewie Coyle) Worst Taste in Music (Sean Mcloughlin), best player car (Steven Alzate).
Kyle entertained us with his Scooby Doo impression and his failure in trying to spell Gelhardt (Watch the Head to Head on Tigers Plus for more fun). With Kyle being new to Hull, Alfie has shown him around the city and they both agreed that Hull is a friendly and great place to live, with some lovely areas and great people.
To stay in the Championship both players agreed that consistency is the foundation. To move forward they need to build a solid platform from the back keeping confidence high and take each game as it comes. Keeping clean sheets and taking their chances is paramount. With only 14 games left this season they need to work hard and put some results together, hopefully starting at Sunderland on Saturday.
Once the Q&A was over, the raffle was drawn with prizes including hospitality tickets for the upcoming Oxford Match, Hull City scarves, mugs, keyrings and a scratch travel/away map.
An orderly queue then formed for photos and autographs with the lads. Both spent over 30 minutes chatting to the fans.
Thanks to everyone who came on the night, we hope you enjoyed it.
Massive thanks to Hull City, Alfie Jones, Kyle Joseph, Adey Wright, John our Events Director, Roary & Amber… and those that helped make the event happen including Brendon Smurthwaite, Dan Briggs, Tigers Trust and James Hoggarth for helping publicise the event.
