Bonfire Night was 3 weeks ago but if this match is anything as good as the last time, a thrilling 3v3 classic, then expect fireworks.
The Visitors
Ipswich are the big spending entertainers, relegated from the Premier League.
We could face 3 ex-Tigers in Greaves, Akpom and Philogene. The latter, as seen at the New York Stadium and replayed a thousand times, is a special talent. Jaden and Jacob both deserve a warm welcome at the MKM.
Ipswich sit just a point below us and have a game in hand. They have lost just 3 from
15. Wrexham parked the bus and ground out a fortunate 0v0 on Saturday.
We really need to guard against set pieces, especially corners with O’Shea aiming to head in.
As we’ve seen first hand, Jaden can score from anywhere. Akpom is also a big danger.
Away from Portman Road, they have only taken 8 points from their last 6 games but have scored 11 in the process.
They will be without Wes Burns, Alex Palmer and striker Sammy Szmodics.
The Hosts
Sergej Jakirovic has transformed Hull City from goal shy and tedious, to barnstorming, buccaneers. We look capable of scoring against anyone, even without key players such as McBurnie, Millar and Belloumi.
He’s moulded a style and spirit which gets the best out of our squad. Epitomised by our goal of the month award.
I felt that he got the line up wrong on Saturday, but Sergej has been a revelation and I love his honesty.
Just like the last time we met, this is a game we cannot lose. Under the lights and with a big crowd, we have to create a partisan atmosphere and be our 12th man.
It will be interesting to see how we set up against Ipswich. Due to injuries, we are limited with options from the bench but Sergej has already shown he has a plan A, B and C, unlike previous managers who only had a “philosophy”.
Hopefully we can get Lundstrum on the bench and Belloumi starting.
I’ve gone for Drameh over Coyle, purely for pace and the fact that we have 3 games this week. Or do we keep Lewie in for his crossing skills and experience?
I’ve also chosen an extra man in midfield to help
protect our defence.
My predicted XI:
Pandur
Drameh
Ajayi
Hughes (C)
Giles
Slater
Gyabi
Amir
Gelhardt
Destan
Belloumi
Prediction: Hull City 2v2 Ipswich Town
