With Mondays vital victory over Preston this now leaves us just one victory from survival with a visit of Derby County tomorrow
The Rams come up the M1 needing the points a much as we do and knowing a victory for them means a point on the final day at home to Stoke City but they are missing a raft of first team players including former Tiger Callum Elder.
City have a clean bill of health from Easter Monday and unfortunately the game comes too soon for Louie Barry who should make the final day at Portsmouth, could we see a surprise inclusion of Doğukan Sinik on the bench after he played in the Under 21’s earlier this month, it would be highly unlikely but you never know.
Our recent home record against Derby is mixed, this been the first meeting in East Yorkshire since 2021 which a Sam Baldock goal saw the visitors claim a 1-0 win in what was then a cash strapped club, Baldock had only signed the day before the game and managed to claim his side the spoils, however come the seasons end it was the Rams that dropped into League One with City claiming survival after been League One champions the season before.
Previously to this City had beaten them in 2019 with a Jarrod Bowen double and just three other victories back to the mid 2000’s in 2005, 2010 and 2013. The Rams have been successful in HU3 in four occasions and just the one draw in 2017.
Most fans will think back to the Play Off First Leg in 2016 when City put in the performance of the season to win 3-0 at Pride Park in the first leg only to lose the home leg but they'd done enough to make Wembley.
Lets hope tomorrow that Coventry do the business at Luton in the lunchtime kick off and take the pressure off slightly and we can have a nice afternoon in the sunshine and hopefully three points to make next weekends match at Portsmouth an enjoyable final day.
