Whilst Kingston upon Hull is famous for driving the abolishment of slavery (William Wilberforce), the City of Bristol thrived on it.
We have Amy Johnson, they have Blackbeard.
Hull has Ebenezer Cobb Morley, who drafted the rules of football, they have Darth Vader.
They do have, Cary Grant, Wallace & Gromitt and Banksy though.
And so the contrasts continue to the football teams. We have a football mad chairman in Acun Ilicali. They have Steve Lansdown co-founder of financial firm, Hargreaves Lansdown, who is more careful with his investments.
We have already benefitted from The Robins with the loan arrival of Yu Hirakawa, who has proved an instant hit in Hull.
Gerhard Struber, (sounds like a character from Die Hard) the Robins head coach says he is happy with the transfer window, 6 in 9 out but the fans say otherwise. They lost their top scorer Mehmeti (8 goals and 6 assists) to Ipswich Town. His replacement Tomi Horvat from Sturm Graz has scored just 2 in 17.
The Robins were thrashed 0v5 at home to Derby County last week, so they should have a point to prove.
The Tigers meanwhile, enjoyed 4 straight wins, before Tuesdays 0v0 stalemate with Watford.
I thought we looked tired in our last two games. Another win on Saturday would cap a very good week though with 7 points from 9.
Sergej Jakirovic has options and we need more energy in the team.
Defensively, we are much tighter now, conceding just 0.5 goals per game. Up front we always look like scoring and every squad member has stepped up.
Win and we will be within 1 or 2 points of 2nd place. We would also continue to cement our play off place.
Finally, it was a pleasure to be at Blackburn last week for flag day. A chance to remember those City fans who are no longer with us, many leaving us way too soon. A few Hull City fans will know Gareth Hussey from Plymouth Argyle who sadly passed away on the 4th February. RIP Big G ?
