Hull City AFC v Burnley FC Match Preview by James Chestney

A midweek fixture to help us get back on our winning ways...........

City welcome Burnley to the MKM this Wednesday on the back of disappointing 1-0 home defeat on Sunday by Sunderland in truth a game they should have been taking a point from.

Post match all the talk was about decisions made by referee Robert Madley denying City a clear hand ball just before half time and blocked Marvin Mehlem in chasing back for Sunderland’s goal and in his post match interview with BBC Radio Humberside City manager Tim Walter said Madley had apologised to him after the game for the errors.

However we move on to the game with a Lancashire outfit who are no strangers to the MKM having made plenty of visits since City got back into the second tier in 2005 and the Clarets have a decent record in East Yorkshire winning six of their 11 visits and City taking maximum points on just three occasions and just two draws and currently you can't look past another win on Wednesday.

City brought in Gustavo Puerta for his debut on Sunday and although looking a bit rusty he seemed to impress in patches and once up to full fitness he should claim a regular spot in the team. The three players who had been on international duty in Liam Millar for Canada, Kasey Palmer for Jamaica and Oscar Zambrano for Ecuador all made the bench after long flights back across the pond this week but they all played a part later in the game but couldn’t make the impact to get a goal, however you would hope one if not all of them will feature against Burnley.

There is going to be no greater time to get back to winning ways in what will be city’s toughest test at the MKM so far this season and hopefully improve their home record against the clarets.

Potential line up

Pandur, Coyle, Jones, Hughes, Drameh, Puerta, Zambrano, Palmer, Belloumi, Bedia, Millar

Prediction City 1 Burnley 2
