This weekend the Tigers packed schedule continues as they travel down to take on 12th place Derby.
Both teams enter this game in mixed form, the Tigers are in slightly worse form with 2 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. Compared to the Rams who’ve won 2 drew 2 and loss 1 in the previous 5 outings.
Derby’s recent two games have been 1-1 draws against teams either side of them in the table: Oxford UTD (11th), Millwall 13th. Both of these games convey the strong change creation of the Rams with them having 23 shots in those games, however from those 23 only 5 were on target.
Although the Tigers should be somewhat used to a large numbers of shots as the City have the 3rd most blocks in the championship this season.
Looking tactically at the game, Derby play some very basic but reliable football. They mainly use a 4-2-3-1 (occasionally 4-3-3) with focus on defensive stability and often like to counter attack. These tactics aren’t anything the Tigers haven’t seen before, but Derby do have a trump card. Their set pieces. This is big issue for the Tigers as Derby are the league leaders in set piece goals, fortunately the Tigers are actually one of the best at defending set pieces in the league but it is still a factor to be aware off.
For City the team looks good with the only new injury being Liam Miller who is doubtful after the Burnley game. Derby on the other hand are without four players which will further benefit the Tigers.
Overall it will be interesting game but I will remain optimistic.
My prediction: 2-1 Hull
