Who will come out on top the Bluebirds or the Tigers ..............

After a fantastic afternoon on Wearside City are back on the road again on Tuesday night as they head down to South Wales to face Cardiff City in a game that was rearranged due to the Bluebirds involvement in the FA Cup.

The Cardiff City Stadium has been a happy hunting ground in recent years for us with us winning the last three trips two of which have been midweek, it seems to be one of those fixtures we always get midweek so probably means a low away attendance on what is going to be one of the biggest nights of the season. The last time a city side was defeated in CF11 was in the lockdown covid season in 2020 when Cardiff won 3-0 to relegate us to League One.

Saturdays win at Sunderland has come at a cost though with Louie Barry been withdrawn with a knee injury which at the time of writing the extent is unknown but we hope it won’t be serious and Charlie Hughes had to be withdrawn on his return but seemed to be precautionary and should be ok for the trip to the Welsh capital.

This could be the first chance of a league double for us after seeing off Cardiff in one of the two home wins this season and after beating QPR and Stoke away we didn’t win the home games so third time lucky maybe.

Rubén Sellés will have a selection dilemma if Barry doesn’t make it after Lincoln made his debut at Sunderland so could come straight in on the wing but Sellés may opt for Abu Kamara to go on the right and switch Joe Gelhardt to the left side.

The game will come too soon for Kasey Palmers return as he is due to starting training again this week so may if he can get back up to fitness he may make next months trip to Bristol City, the other long term absentees Liam Millar and Mohammed Belloumi wont be seen until the new season though.

If we can bring the three points back on Tuesday as things stand it would create a six point gap to the bottom three and with Plymouth Argyle who currently occupy the final relegation spot up next Tuesday at the MKM it would be a massive confidence boost for us ahead of the Pilgrims arrival.

The match is to be refereed by Thomas Kirk who refereed our victory at QPR in October and the home defeat by Blackburn in December.

Potential Line Up: Pandur, Coyle, Jones, Hughes, McLoughlin, Matazo, Alzate, Crooks, Gelhardt, Lincoln, Joseph

Prediction: Cardiff 1 City 3
