A Hull City, Tigers Trust and Cash for Kids partnership.

Hull City and the Tigers Trust have been busy getting the next stage of their Charity Sports Challenge launched.

A shortlist of 6 local sports groups has been agreed as the finalists.

The exciting new partnership, which was launched in August, gives local sports groups in East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire the chance to take part in a fundraising competition that could see them walk away with grants of more than £2,000.

Each participating group will be encouraged to raise as much money as possible to fund new equipment, new kit, facilities, updating facilities and recruiting new members.

With the backing of Hull City and Tigers Trust, Cash for Kids will then match this amount up to £1,000 per group. Each club will keep every penny that they raise, therefore being given the opportunity to receive at least a £2,000 grant.

The team that raises the most funds will receive an additional £1,000, with another four special awards also on offer that will see another £250 up for grabs in each category.

In total, the initiative hopes to grant over £14,000 back into the local sporting community by November.

To be chosen as one of the Charity Sports Challenge finalists, all applicant groups must have demonstrated their aim to help children up to and including the age of 18 years who are ill, disabled or disadvantaged, with favourable consideration given to projects that directly benefited a large number of children and/or positively increased the quality of their lives.

The 6 chosen teams/clubs/groups, which now have until Monday 5th November to raise funds, are:

  • Venoms FC
  • East Hull YRLFC U15s
  • Launch Pad Trampoline Academy
  • Hull Stingers Basketball Club
  • Diamond White Stars Cheerleading
  • East Hull Boxing Academy
