Biography

JOSH BOWLER
BORN: 15 March 1999
COUNTRY: ENGLAND

Josh was raised in Chertsey, a small town in Surrey on the banks of the River Thames, starting his career playing for Fulham’s Academy before joining west London rivals Queens Park Rangers at the age of 14 in August 2013.

While a second-year scholar, Bowler was handed an 18-month professional contract in February 2017. He would go on to notch eight times in all competitions to end the campaign as the Under-18s’ top scorer before being handed his first-team debut when coming on as a second half substitute in QPR’s defeat away at Norwich City on the final day of the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship season.

Shortly after his first taste of senior football, Bowler was on the move – joining Everton at the age of just 18 after the two clubs agreed an initial fee of £1.5million, which had the potential to rise to £4.25million with appearance-based clauses.

And after overcoming an injury which stalled the initial phase of his second term, Bowler quickly recaptured his best form, growing into one of Under-23 manager David Unsworth’s most valuable assets with five goals in 18 starts in all competitions.

The gifted forward crowned a personally excellent 2018/19 season by scoring the goal against Brighton & Hove Albion which sealed Everton Under-23s’ second Premier League 2 title success in three years, whilst also proving to be a key figure in the young Toffees’ Premier League Cup triumph, which completed an unprecedented double for Unsworth’s team.

On 18 July 2019, Bowler signed a 1-year contract extension with Everton and then almost immediately joined up with Hull City on loan for the 2019-20 season.
