Biography

BORN: 8 JANUARY 1995
COUNTRY: BELGIUM

Coming from a footballing family, Jordy's father Edwin de Wijs and grandfather Hans van der Pluijm are both former professional footballers who now currently work as trainers.

Jordy made his professional debut for PSV’s reserve side – Jong PSV – who ply their trade in the second tier of Dutch football, playing his first full 90 minutes in February 2014. It was however the 2015/16 season he finally made his first-team breakthrough at PSV, as his impressive progress was rewarded with a Champions League game in October 2015, with de Wijs coming of the bench to feature in the last 16 minutes of the Group Stage tie.

He gained further Champions League experience in 2016/17, coming on as a half-time substitute in PSV’s 2-0 defeat to Spanish side Atlético Madrid in November 2016, whilst also being on the bench for three other Group Stage fixtures.

With very limited game time while with PSV, Jordy joined Excelsior on loan, going on to feature 15 times in the top-flight of Dutch football.

Despite being born in Belgium, Jordy has represented Holland at Under-17, Under-18, Under-20 and Under-21 levels.

On 11 July 2018, Jordy de Wijs signed a three-year contract, with an option of a fourth year, with Hull City.
