Reading will be the first opponents welcomed to the KCOM Stadium for the 2019/20 Championship season. Reading lost their first game against Sheffield Wednesday whilst City will be hoping to make amends for an opening day loss to Swansea City last week.
The Tigers had an unexpected flurry of transfers, making 10 signings this window. Three of those, Ryan Tafazolli, Josh Bowler and Tom Eaves, made substitute appearances in the Swansea game. This means seven other players are in line to make their City debuts against Reading, although we are unlikely to see all of those play.
Reading have made some additions themselves as they look to climb up the table compared to last season with players including Charlie Adam, Lucas João and Matt Miazga.
At this stage of the season it is hard to predict what will happen, especially with City making a managerial change and the addition of 10 new faces. It will be interesting to see who will hit the ground running in Grant McCann’s high intensity pressing style of play.
