Biography

GEORGE LONG
BORN: 5 November 1993
HEIGHT: 193cm
COUNTRY: ENGLAND

George was born not too far away in Sheffield, on a date that is easy to remember as it is Bonfire night. He learnt his chosen trade in the youth ranks at his hometown club Sheffield United, before eventually breaking into the first team.

Long made his début for the Blades at the beginning of May 2011, starting the last game of the 2010–11 season and in doing so, he became the youngest goalkeeper in the clubs history to play in a league game for the Blades, at just 17 years 183 days.

Maybe understandably, when taking his age into consideration, Long started the following season as second choice behind Mark Howard but then after an injury to Howard in October 2012, he became the side's regular stopper. During his initial run in the team he conceded only one goal in 5 league appearances and was subsequently awarded League One 'Player of the Month' for October.

George has had loan spell at Oxford United, Motherwell & more prolonged period with AFC Wimbledon were during the 2017 – 18 season he made 45 league appearances. It was at the end of this loan season that Sheffield transfer-listed George.

On 18 July 2018, Long joined Hull City on a three-year contract.
