A Must Win Game Already For City

Not many games this early in the season can be described as “must-win”, but surely in the position that Hull City are currently in Tuesday’s game against Rotherham United can already be described as just that. City have just one point from the opening three games whilst Rotherham have three, although both teams are likely to be fighting for survival come the end of the season so this is a big game for both.

Reece Burke is fit to play again and this could mean Angus MacDonald drops back to the bench, especially after his mistake against Blackburn Rovers cost the Tigers a goal.

Eric Lichaj is likely to start at left-back, having moved there against Blackburn Rovers after Stephen Kingsley was taken off. He will miss the game due to concussion. This means Todd Kane will have his first start of the season in the right-back position where he naturally plays.

This gives Nigel Adkins a dilemma with who to start at the left-wing spot Todd Kane previously occupied. Both Kamil Grosicki and David Milinkovic are in line for their first league start of the season although Milinkovic seems most likely to start having looked good in his substitute appearances this season.

The rest of the team is likely to stay the same as last game despite a flat performance as Adkins seems to have found or is close to finding his best team with players returning to full fitness.

Rotherham have struggled this season scoring just two and conceding seven goals in three league games. Very much relegation form, they will be wanting three points from this game as the newly-promoted side looks to avoid the drop come the end of the season.

I expect this game to be very end to end with both teams having poor defences this season. Neither team has offered much in attack but the defensive frailties could prove to be the tipping point of this game.
