HCOSC Golf Society 2 of 4

2. Welcome to HCOSC Golf Society

The Hull City OSC Golf Society

We are fortunate to have many first class golf courses in the East Riding of Yorkshire with a number of Tigers supporters enjoying memberships. Naturally opinion is guaranteed to be rife on the golf courses and in the clubhouses in the days after each fixture.

We, at the Hull City Official Supporters Club recognise the dual interest in the two sports and we are now in the planning stages of forming a Hull City OSC Golf Society for our members which will in turn benefit good causes.

The founder members of the society will be both members of a recognised golf club from which they will have an official handicap and also be members of the OSC.

This concept is open to male and female participants and we envisage playing up to four competition days per year dependent on the interest and numbers, one of which will be for the OSC Club Championship.

Hull City can boast two European Tour Professional Golf winners as avid supporters who have flown the Hull City flag all over the world. John Cockin who won the Penfold Trophy in 1967 and the Dutch Open in 1968 before leaving the country to settle in Sweden where he became the President of the Sweden Professional Golf Association and more recently Richard Finch has proved to be a very accomplished member of the European Tour having won the New Zealand Open in 2007. He was then victorious in the Irish Open the following year. These results followed an outstanding amateur career during which Richard won both the Spanish and the English Championships before turning professional.

Coincidentally, both John and Richard began their golfing careers at the Springhead Park golf course before joining the Hull Golf Club at Kirkella.

Keen fan Tony Rattue has recently retired after many years at St’ Georges Hill Golf Club in Surrey. He was very well respected. Tony is often seen in The KCOM`s West Stand supporting the Tigers. Mike Grantham is formerly of Hull GC but now travels to games from Cheshire and locally we have Gordon and Joe Townhill from Brough GC and Karl Worby of Skidby Lakes BC. All well respected in the golfing scene and huge Hull City fans. We are thankful for all for their support. Long may it continue.

Other social activities will be planned as required and all society golfers will be made very welcome at any of our existing OSC events.

Perhaps you would ask your fellow golf/supporter friends to consider membership of this exciting venture. It would be great to see you at our first event.
